What is a B Corp

Companies verified to meet verified standards of social and environmental performance.

Certified B Corporations™ are for-profit companies that use the power of business to build a more inclusive, equitable and regenerative economy. Under the new B Lab™ Standards they meet requirements across seven Impact Topics, with every certification decision issued by an independent assurance provider approved by B Lab™.

I hope that five years from now, ten years from now, we’ll look back and say B Corporations were the start of the revolution. The existing paradigm isn’t working anymore — this is the future.

Now certifying on V2

The new B Lab™ Standards are here.

Since 2025, B Corp Certification has moved from a points-based score to clear, mandatory requirements. Version 2.2 is now the single pathway to certification: submissions on the legacy V1.6 standards closed on 28 February 2026.

Foundation Requirements

Every company starts by confirming eligibility, legal accountability and its risk profile before moving on to the Impact Topics.

Seven Impact Topics

From Purpose & Stakeholder Governance to Climate Action — companies must meet tailored requirements across all seven areas. No more 80-point score.

Continuous improvement

Certification is valid for five years, with companies advancing from Year 0 to Year 3 and Year 5 requirements, verified by independent audits.

The seven Impact Topics

Measure, manage and improve — across every part of your business.

One framework, seven topics

Under V2, requirements are tailored to your company’s size, sector and location — and every topic counts.
